Bernadette S. Elliott, BSN, RN

Program Development Specialist

Bernadette began her healthcare career by enlisting in the US Air Force, where she worked as an operating room technician. She then graduated with a BSN from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Her vast nursing experience includes NICU, PICU, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT, Adult Trauma ER, ICU and Critical Care/ECMO transport for all ages. Bernadette’s ECMO career began in 2008 with pediatric patients and has since evolved to adult ECMO at San Antonio Military Medical Center (2011). There, she became the founding Adult ECLS Transport Program Manager until July 2021. Her team is proudly responsible for over 160 ECMO transports worldwide. She is currently working of her Nurse Practitioners degree. She is a dedicated ELSO simulation instructor and conference committee member. Her passion is presenting ECMO and advancing technologies in the critical care and transport environment.

Lorenzo Sanchez, NP

Administrator

Lorenzo is a native of New Mexico. He began his professional career right out of high school, when he admirably joined the United States Air Force. In the USAF, Lorenzo worked as a SERE instructor for nearly 10 years. He then moved to San Antonio, where he began his nursing career. He obtained his Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, followed by his graduate degree of Family Nurse Practitioner. Lorenzo has a passion for Critical Care and Emergency Medicine. He loves ECMO education and Hospital Administration.

Marlene Morales, MD

CMO

Dr. Morales is a native Texan, originally from El Paso. She moved to San Antonio after high school, where she attended The University of Texas (SA) and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree, graduating with Cum Laude honors. She followed that with Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She then went on to complete her Emergency Medicine residency training at the Texas A&M/Christus Spohn Health System in Corpus Christi, where she served as Chief Resident. She is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and her primary interest involves cannulation and ECPR.
